Cummins Inc. is a global leader in the design, production, distribution, and service of diesel and natural gas engines, electric and hybrid powertrains, and related parts. The company is divided into five segments: Engine, Distribution, Components, Power Systems, and New Power. The company manufactures diesel and natural gas engines under the Cummins and other customer brands for use in heavy and medium-duty trucks, buses, recreational vehicles, light-duty automobiles, construction, quarrying, marine, rail, oil and gas, defensive performance, and agricultural markets. It also sells new and reconditioned parts and engines. Additionally, it offers power generating systems, high-horsepower engines, heavy and medium-duty engines, software engineering services, custom-designed assemblies, retail and wholesale aftermarket components, and in-shop and field-based maintenance. Additionally, the company provides pollution solutions; turbochargers; air and fuel filters, fuel water separators, lubricant and hydraulic filtration, cooling systems, and fuel additives; and electrically controlled modules, sensors, and accompanying software, but also new, replacement, and reconditioned fuel systems. Additionally, it offers automated transmissions; standby and prime power generators, controls, paralleling systems, and transfer switches, as well as ac generator/alternator products under the Stamford and AVK brands; and electric powered systems with components and subsystems that incorporate battery, fuel cell, and hydrogen production technologies. Additionally, it provides filtration, after treatment, controls, air-conditioning, automated transmissions, and electric power generation. The company sells its goods to OEMs, wholesalers, dealers, as well as other customers. Cummins Engine Company was formerly known as Cummins Inc. until 2001 when it changed its name to Cummins Inc. The headquarters of Cummins Inc are located in Columbus, Indiana.
