The Blackstone Group was founded in 1985 as a mergers and acquisitions firm by both the ex-CEO and ex-Head of Global Mergers and Acquisitions of Lehman Brothers. Blackstone's private equity business has been one of the largest investors in leveraged buyouts in the last three decades. Its real estate business has actively acquired commercial real estate by originating loans and investing in debt securities. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), its current market cap is $137.94B (USD) and it has a 3,165 workforce that manages $649B (USD) of assets.
